A Naval Officer, Seaman Paul Amaseimogha, may have died in the fight against the dreaded Boko Haram insurgent sect in Maiduguri, Borno State, but for his colleagues, he died a super hero as he ensured that he died alone so that his colleagues would live.
According
to a friend of the gallant Naval rating, the young man who was serving
in Bayelsa State was posted to Maiduguri and he did not waste time in
showing his bravery.
On the day he died however,
his battalion were on the trail of the sect when he stepped on a
landmine, knowing a sure death stared him in the face.
Unlike
others who would have kept quiet, Amaseimogha called for his colleagues
to leave the area fast while he tried to detonate the explosive.
But he was not successful as the landmine blew him up in the process. But he was able to to save the lives of his colleagues.
Such bravery!
